Census Records

Census records can provide vital information about your ancestors which include addresses, other members of the family and their relationships to one another.  They also provide occupation details which can lay the foundation of a more in depth search.

The first useful census record in relation to family historians was the 1841 Census which named the individuals within households, their ages, occupations and places of birth.  Thereafter the Census was completed every ten years in UK and continues to this day.

As time moved on the information within the Census was more detailed and provides much more data to the genealogist.  At the present time we need to wait 100 years for Census records to be released, so the next Census due out is for 1911.
